This project provides access to education through Chevening scholarships to students from ODA eligible countries, enabling them to pursue postgraduate study in the UK. This allows the UK to engage with and invest in future leaders at an early stage of their career, helping us to work better together in the future.

This programme aims to bolster local security inside Syria, strengthen the country’s neighbours at its borders, contribute to our Counter Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism goals by combating the emergence of environments permissive to extremists, and manifest the continued UK commitment to an enduring and sustainable political settlement. It seeks to ensure that basic security services are present in key local areas, and accepted by the local population as an alternative to extremists. This will help support the effectiveness and legitimacy of moderate actors on the ground and support the Moderate Opposition to keep extremists in check.
Support to improve South-Central Somalia's ability to successfully investigate, prosecute, convict and lawfully detain criminals on the basis of human rights and international law
This programme will support Egypt’s economic reform agenda in support of the IMF programme; security cooperation to reduce the threat of terrorism and extremism; governance work to support a more open political environment; education reform to improve learning outcomes for students, work on migration to reduce the number of people seeking to undertake irregular journeys from Egypt, and research and analysis to build the evidence base of the CSSF programme and ensure learning is captured.
This programme aims to address immediate security and justice needs in Iraq while laying the foundations for longer term work to address underlying grievances.
This programme supports the moderate opposition to provide services for their communities and to contest new space. Preserving and sustaining economic activity as well as empowering legitimate local governance structures to deliver services gives credibility to the moderate opposition, helping them to challenge extremists to space within Syria. HMG aims to support local communities through strengthened Provincial and Local Councils, technical Directorates and the ‘Syrian Interim Government’ Ministries where these are effective.
