Accelerating reductions in under nutrition in Ethiopia

To improve the nutritional status of women and children below five years of age by increasing coverage and uptake of high impact nutrition and childcare interventions and strengthening evidence based multi-sectoral response to under nutrition in Ethiopia. This will benefit 3.5 million children below five years of age to receive nutritional interventions, 24,000 Pregnant and Lactating Women receive iron supplementation, 5.5 million mothers, fathers, and Pregnant and Lactating Women receive nutrition related information, and 500,000 new-borns and mothers receive two home visits in the first week after birth. This contributes to the MDG goals of eliminating extreme poverty and hunger and will reduce underweight from 35% to 28% in the program regions.
