The project will reduce maternal and under-five child mortality in support of MDG 5 and 4 among vulnerable Somali pastoralists in Mandera by intervening during pregnancy, childbirth and after birth. It will do this by strengthening maternal, newborn and child health service delivery at the health facility, encouraging dialogue among community members and religious leaders to address socio-cultural barriers to maternal, newborn and child health service uptake, and supporting Community-Based Reproductive Health Agents to implement community maternal, newborn and child health education and interventions.
