This is the contribution committed by CAFOD as part of an agreement with the EU which is currently providing funding to this longstanding CAFOD partner for its core programme of providing legal assistance to marginalised Palestinians. WBN002. An assessment carried out in 2014 indicated a need for action to mitigate “push factors” fostering displacement of Palestinians from large expanses of Palestinian land in the West Bank and from the city of Jerusalem. Such push factors include house demolition, forced displacement, and confiscation of land in Area C, and social and economic pressures involving East Jerusalem. Strategies being implemented to address these issues involve rendering legal aid, combined with awareness-raising and advocacy efforts to strengthen the resilience of marginalized communities at risk for displacement. Ongoing engagement with civil society coalitions, local government, community leaders and community based organisations ensures that the people affected are fully participant in the mitigation process, and that their prioritizations and input are continually sought during service provision and evaluations.
