Description

The NIHR Academy Global Health Research Capacity Strengthening Activity Plan outlines activities the NIHR Academy will provide to support research capacity strengthening in the Global Health Research (GHR) Programmes (Units, Groups, Centres, Health Policy & Systems Research programmes and the Research and Innovation for Global Health Transformation programme).The aim is for the NIHR Academy to add value, support and build on the NIHR Official Development Assistance (ODA) investment in global health research programmes through specific demand-led events and community development together with awards and career development activities that help strengthen research capacity.

Objectives

1. To add value and build on the investment made by the GHR Programmes to research capacity strengthening specifically in the area of academic careers 2. To help those being trained and the individuals supporting them to feel part of NIHR and be part of a larger environment that extends beyond their funded programme/localty 3. To offer an opportunity for individuals to practise the skills they will need to succeed as an independent researcher
