As an innovative public-private partnership, GCPF uses public funding to leverage private capital in order to mitigate climate change and drive sustainable growth in developing and emerging markets. GCPF mainly invests through local financial institutions but also directly. To achieve maximum impact, GCPF prioritises countries with the most significant greenhouse gas emissions and the greatest potential to increase efficiency. In addition, GCPF supplies resources for projects and areas that lack appropriate funding. GCPF finances projects targeting small and medium-sized businesses and private households, specifically: (a) Energy efficiency projects that reduce projected greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% and (b) Renewable energy generation projects.
