Punjab Education Support Programme II [GB-1-202697]

All government school children (6 million primary, 4 million secondary) and children attending school through the Punjab Education Foundation (around 2.2 million) will have benefited from UK support in Punjab by March 2019.

The programme is directly supporting 257,808 children to gain quality education.

To deliver skill-based trainings to around 330,000 poor and vulnerable people in the Punjab district ( of which 40% are women) with an aim to provide a pool of skilled workers for the private sector firms, leading to enhanced incomes and employment prospects and encouraging private sector training providers to build up their training capacity.

TEA - Transforming Energy Access [GB-1-204867]

The project is up to £65 million over five years, to support early stage testing and scale up of innovative technologies and business models that will accelerate access to affordable, clean energy services for poor households and enterprises, especially in Africa. The programme will include: i) partnership with Shell Foundation, enabling support to another 30+ early stage private sector innovations. ii) Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst to stimulate technology innovation by UK enterprises; iii) build other strategic clean energy innovation partnerships (e.g. testing a new ‘P2P Solar’ crowdfunding platform; and scoping a potential new partnership with Gates Foundation on Mission Innovation); iv) skills and expertise development. TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME [GB-1-202942]

To improve student learning in six states in Northern Nigeria over 6 years. This will be achieved through creating a cohort of 66,000 more effective teachers of Mathematics, Science and Technology and English. For every year that these 66,000 teachers continue in service, they will improve the learning outcomes of up to 2,000,000 students in primary and junior secondary schools. In the Colleges of Education, a total of 816 lecturers, working in Primary Education and Junior Secondary School Departments, will be trained. In turn, 4,000 student teachers will benefit from improved training through pre-service methods in Colleges of Education.

Youth Education and Skills programme for economic Growth (YES4Growth) [GB-1-203870]

The project will deliver manifesto commitments on education and contribute to the global goal of inclusive and equitable quality education for all. It will ensure underprivileged youth, especially females, have improved opportunities for basic education, vocational skills and formal employment. The project will also contribute to the UK government's commitment to women's economic empowerment. Over 27,000 (45% girls) youth will benefit from skills development.
