South Sudan Humanitarian Programme (HARISS) 2014 - 2020 [GB-1-204019]

To help approximately three million South Sudanese by providing critical life-saving support and helping people to better cope with shocks from conflict, drought and flooding. This programme aims to save the lives of an estimated two million people who will receive at least one form of humanitarian assistance; and build the capacity of an estimated one million people to recover and cope better with shocks. Over five years this programme will provide food, shelter and access to water and health services to millions of vulnerable people, including women and children.

North East Nigeria Transition to Development Programme [GB-GOV-1-300432]

To deliver an effective response to the basic needs of vulnerable people impacted by the crisis in the North East of Nigeria. The programme will deliver humanitarian assistance in nutrition and food security; protection and Education in Emergencies; multi-sector support including health, water, shelter and livelihoods interventions; as well as enabling a more efficient response to the crisis, including strengthened government planning, budgeting and coordination; and risk management.

'Pakistan National Cash Transfers Programme' [GB-1-203029]

To reduce poverty and improve living standards and educational attainment in the poorest families by providing regular payments to the female head of household. 315,000 additional beneficiary families will benefit by 2020. This programme will contribute to 1.05 million primary school children being supported in school and directly contribute to Millennium Development Goals 1: Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger; and Millennium Development Goals 2: Achieve universal primary education.

Providing Humanitarian Assistance in Sahel Emergencies (PHASE) [GB-1-204439]

To provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people in the Sahel and help them to cope with future disasters. This will be linked to the seasonal calendar and work alongside longer-term resilience programmes to reduce the long term demand for humanitarian assistance in the Sahel, and will be delivered through NGO and multilateral partners.

Strategic Partnership Arrangement II between DFID and BRAC [GB-1-204916]

Budget: £222,500,000 Status: Implementation Reporting Org: Department for International Development

To provide support to BRAC’s development programmes to improve access to quality basic services (health, education, water and sanitation), help the poorest, most marginalised people across the whole of Bangladesh graduate from extreme poverty, support inclusive growth and help build effective formal and informal institutions. UK support will include: helping over 950,000 children (600,000 girls) gain a decent education; providing additional nutritional support to 11 million people (7 million women and girls); helping 5.7 million girls and women gain access to family planning services; providing at least 75,000 people with sustainable access to clean water and sanitation; and lifting 240,000 women and their families (over 960,000 people) out of extreme poverty.

Access to Health Care in the Democratic Republic of Congo [GB-1-202732]

To provide increased coverage with essential reproductive, maternal and child health services in DFID-supported health zones. To increase coverage with essential health services in 52 DFID-supported health zones in five provinces (Nord Ubangi, Kasai-Centrale, Kasai, Maniema, Tshopo). This will benefit over 9 million Congolese citizens, and contributes towards achievement of MDGs through the delivery of services to improve reproductive, maternal and child health

Responding to Protracted Crisis in Sudan: Humanitarian Reform, Assistance & Resilience Programme [GB-GOV-1-300196]

The programme will deliver vital reforms that strengthen the humanitarian response and ways of working in protracted crisis, maintain the lives and dignity of over 550,000 vulnerable people a year across Sudan and build the resilience of communities vulnerable to conflict and displacement in Darfur.

UK Aid Match allows the UK public to have a say in how an element of the aid budget is spent. DFID will match fund, pound for pound, public donations to appeals made by selected not-for-profit organisations, enabling them to increase their poverty reduction and development work in DFID priority countries.
