Enhancing Gender Outcomes through Social Services Systems Strengthening (Samartha)

This programme will focus on improving the systems and capacity of local government to deliver its social service mandates with a specific focus on improving access to quality health and education services, especially by women, girls and excluded groups. This will be complemented with national policy support in the Health and Education sectors to ensure sector policies and resource allocations align to support Nepal in building responsive and resilient Health and Education systems.
Kenya El- Nino Response

To support access to critical life-saving humanitarian assistance for 192,000 flood-affected people through WASH, Health, Nutrition and Social Protection interventions in Kenya.
Strengthening Societal and Economic Resilience in Jordan (SSERJ)

The programme will expand contributory social insurance schemes which will allow more informal jobs to be formalised. It will also support an expansion of tax-financed social assistance schemes, seeking greater coherence between national systems and those supporting refugees to improve efficiency. Frontloaded financial support will demonstrate proof of concept which, alongside technical support, is appropriate assistance to a Low Middle Income Country. A comprehensive sustainability strategy and exit plan for UK support will be developed during the inception period and monitored throughout implementation of this programme.
Myanmar Humanitarian Aid Programme (MHAP)

MHAP will provide multi sector humanitarian support to the vulnerable and displaced people in Myanmar, and build the leadership and capability of Myanmar humanitarian organizations.
Gender-Responsive Social Protection

To enhance outcomes for women and girls from social protection systems, DFID will generate high quality research and evidence on what interventions are most effective, and provide advisory services and resources to DFID and partners such as the World Bank and UNICEF. This will allow them to design, implement and monitor and evaluate social protection systems that deliver improved results for women and girls. This will reduce poverty, improve access to education and health, reduce violence against women and girls, and improve economic opportunities for the poorest and most marginalised women and girls, contributing to SDG 1 (end poverty) and 5 (gender equality). The programme will work in both stable and fragile contexts, and will have a particular focus on strengthening outcomes for women and girls with disabilities.
Commonwealth Veteran's Welfare Programme for ODA Eligible Countries

To provide commonwealth veterans and their widows/widowers from ODA eligible countries, who worked for British Armed Forces before their countries gained independence, now living in poverty, with two meals a day through a 5 year cash transfer programme.

Better Assistance in Crises (Social Protection)

The programme will help poor and vulnerable people to cope better with crises and meet their basic needs through more effective social assistance in contexts of recurrent shocks, protracted conflict and forced displacement. It will address the bottlenecks at global and country level that prevent greater use of social protection approaches in crises, through expert advisory services for country support, capacity building, learning, coordination and high-level policy influencing, and high quality research that strengthens the evidence on what works in different contexts.
Safeguarding Innovation and Engagement Programme Fund

India Challenge Enabling Fund (ICE)

Asia Regional Child Labour Programme

The programme will target the worst forms of child labour in Asia, including bonded child labour. It will invest in building new evidence of how best to tackle child labour, pilot and assess different approaches and support policy dialogue with governments and regional bodies. As a regional programme, it will also engage closely with DFID country offices to help them scale up work on child labour in their programmes in the future.
Building Resilience in Ethiopia (BRE)

To build Ethiopia’s resilience to shocks by seeking to support the Government of Ethiopia to lead an effective and accountable humanitarian response system. It will have four key strands: Providing technical assistance to the Government of Ethiopia to lead and deliver an effective and accountable humanitarian response , delivering food and cash to people in humanitarian need in the most effective way, respond to emergency humanitarian needs in the most effective way and monitoring, evaluation and learning to strengthen humanitarian delivery in Ethiopia.

Climate Smart Development for Nepal

This will help Nepal to cope with impacts of climate change (CC) and promote clean development. It will provide strategic support to the Govt of Nepal to design and implement CC policies, to integrate resilience throughout government planning. This will:Improve resilience of 700,000 poor & vulnerable people (especially women) to floods, landslides, droughts in most remote districts;Improve resilience of businesses in 5 growing urban centres & 3 river basins through investments in urban planning, large scale irrigation systems & flood management;Facilitate connection of over 25,000 households to new micro-hydro power installations; connect over 70,000 homes to solar power & install RET in more than 200 schools/health clinics;Develop industry standard for ‘clean’ brick production and enable over half of the brick kilns (at least 400) to adopt more efficient technologies;Improve design of future CC programming & beyond through generation of world class evidence
Multi-purpose Cash Assistance to Refugees in Jordan

This programme directly support 22,000 of the most vulnerable refugees through regular cash-transfers. Cash assistance to refugees covers their basic needs for rent, food, and essential items like blankets and heaters in the winter. The programme is delivered though UNHCR, WFP and ACTED (for the third party monitoring activities).
Rohingya Response and National Resilience Programme (RRNRP)

To improve protection and quality of humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya population living in refugee camps in southern Bangladesh, so that they can live full and meaningful lives. This to be done peacefully living alongside host communities, for whom the impacts of the crisis need to be reduced and development opportunities provided. The programme marks a shift in FCDO’s (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) response to the crisis by providing longer term, predictable support to address the needs of both refugees and host communities. Whilst the focus will be on sustaining and improving the humanitarian operation through provision of quality basic services, there will be a specific focus on stimulating the economy, rehabilitating the environment, and promoting stability for both populations’ benefit. The programme aim to support COVID-19 and early emergency recovery support for national resilience by providing support to the national COVID-19 and disaster response.
Global Land Governance programme

The goal of the Land Facility is to improve stability, inclusive growth and responsible investment by promoting more effective, efficient and equitable rural and urban land governance. The programme will help build basic capacity and systems and mobilise the necessary political support, so governments can implement and resource sustained land governance reform, leading to improved tenure security for all. Improved tenure security will contribute to a number of climate benefits; transformational change, reduced deforestation, increased resilience and sustainable land management practices. It will run for 7 years and will initially work in up to 10 countries in Africa and South East Asia depending on size and needs.
