Last updated: 25/11/2018
IATI Identifier: GB-1-201235

Description

To construct a high quality fully functional Teacher Training CollegeTo improve quality of education in Malawi by providing a fully functional teacher training college in Phalombe District with capacity to train 300 students every year. This will provide more qualified teachers (especially female teachers) in rural areas (which comprise 80% of Malawi population) contributing towards addressing the shortage of teachers. This contributes to MDG 2 and 3 by reducing the Pupil:Teacher Ratio currently at 74:1 and needs about 26,000 more teachers to reach a target of 60:1 by 2013.
